Mat Pilates is done on the floor using an exercise mat, which employs controlled breathing during body weight resisted movement to build core strength. Exercises in Mat Pilates can also involve basic Pilates equipment such as a Pilates ring, resistance band or light weights. Mat Pilates exercises are performed in a slow, controlled, precise manner and require intense concentration. These exercises help strengthen the body's core by developing pelvic and scapula stability, and abdominal control, using focused breathing patterns.
Invented by Joseph Pilates, the Reformer is a bed-like frame with a flat platform on it, called the carriage, which rolls back and forth on wheels within the frame. The carriage is attached to one end of the reformer by a set of springs. The springs provide a variety of differing levels of resistance as the carriage is pushed or pulled along the frame.
One of the best things about the Reformer is its versatility. Exercises can be done lying down, sitting, standing, pulling the straps, pushing the foot bar, perched on the foot bar, perched on the shoulder blocks, and, with additional equipment, upside down, sideways and all kinds of variations thereof. In other words, the Reformer can train many parts and dynamics of the body in so many different ways with just one relatively sleek piece of equipment.
A variety of exercises are done on the Reformer to promote length, strength, flexibility, and balance.
The benefits of Reformer Pilates include overall strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. These things in turn lead to daily life improvements like better posture, graceful, efficient movement, and for many, relief from pain associated with physical imbalances such as back pain.
Utilizing a system of resistance bearing springs and bars, this class combines the challenge of Pilates mat work with the assistance of the Pilates apparatus, Tower.
The Tower assists in alignment, stabilization, and support of the body. Suitable for all levels, this class is a fun and sometimes gravity-defying way to lengthen, strengthen, and tone your body while improving balance.
Vbarre is a fusion of classical ballet, Pilates and resistance training. Using a ballet barre, band, ball, and glide board, the Vbarre workout shapes the body through energetic movement that challenges the participant and provides calorie-blasting cardio. Vbarre is a fun, powerful workout that yields real results.
Our instructors focus on form and flow to keep the body aligned correctly and participants moving safely. By providing smooth transitions and non-stop movement that amps up the caloric burn, Vbarre will increase your metabolism, burn fat and leave you feeling energized.
The Vbarre method balances the aspects of strength and stretch to create long, lean muscles with flexibility. With commitment to the technique, students get tangible results they can see and feel.
